Our Wedding: Guest Book Table

One of the least expensive and most fun projects we did to personalize and decorate our space for the wedding was the photos on our guest book table. Here is what it looked like:
What we did was get wedding photos of as many of our guests as we could - our aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles, grandparents, parents and friends. Sometimes this meant calling the kids of our parents' friends and asking them to secretly scan and email us the pic. For a lot of them, our Moms had copies of pictures that we made copies of and used. Everyone was completely surprised by this, and it was fun to show weddings of all styles and decades and highlight the amazing tradition of weddings.

To make them, we copied pictures at a drug store very inexpensively (no using originals, just in case) and bought a bunch of $1 frames at Dollarama - mixed colours and styles - and spray painted them all the same antique gold.
Here are a few of the pics I had scanned copies of:

  1. How fun! I thought of doing something like this... but soon decided I'd rather put my time into other projects. Love this though - so cute.

  2. What an adorable idea!! I've seen people put up pictures of their parents weddings but never so many other guests!

We would've put up pictures our parents, but when my hubby was young his family was in the middle of relocating and almost all their belongings were stolen from their storage unit, including photos! :( So it didn't seem right to just have pictures of my parents!

Btw, finally wrote my post featuring your tablescape that inspired mine! Just forgot to tell you about it till now!!

  4. You are so clever, Jenny! What a wonderful idea, and I know the guests loved this!

You are also very welcome for that information. Let me know if you find some plates like those or similar ones. They really are fun. Nantucket has also been a fun pattern to have, but it has been discontinued. You can still find it on eBay, in some places online, and at Replacements, though. I have seen a lot of other patterns that have a cute basket-like look. I think Martha Stewart is even making one now. Not sure what it looks like in person, but I've seen some others that are cute, too. I love white china because you can mix so much with it! But I just love china, period.

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  6. What a charming idea! So many great pictures.
At my daughter's wedding we had a table where we had prom pics of thiers, his mom and dad and mine and my husbands. I thought it was neat that all three couples had gone to the prom with each other and were still together.

  9. Totally clever. I'm saving this idea for when my kids get married. After all, the bride lets the Mom make these kinds of decisions, right?

  13. I adore this idea. I would love to repost it on my blog with your permission. I have 2 blogs: one wedding (hip weddings) and a lifestyle (504 Main).

The best thing about weddings is the family connection and this is an amazing way to pay tribute to all of those in your life...what a wonderful surprise.
